 Law Enforcement Officer of the Year

VCOPS sponsors an Annual Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award in every City and County for every police department and sheriff's office throughout Virginia. As part of this annual program was ask local citizens of the various communities in the Commonwealth and local VCOPS' affiliates to nominate officers or deputies whose courage, valor or just plain good police work represent the best of that particular community.

All entries must be postmarked by midnight March 30th of each year. Entries should be submitted to:

Virginia COPS will present each winner will be awarded a VCOPS plaque in recognition of the officer's or deputy's service or valor. At least one officer in every agency for which nominees are received will be honored. Winners will be invited and announced at the International Union of Police Association's Police Ball held each May during National Police Week.
