ARLINGTON, Va. — Police in Arlington County are looking for
volunteers with foreign-language skills to assist officers on patrol
in the county.In particular, police are looking for people who
can speak Spanish, French, Mongolian, Arabic and certain African
dialects. Those languages are prevalent in the county’s immigrant
community and police want to make sure they can communicate with as
many people as possible.
Volunteers in the “Bilingual Ride-a-Long Program” join
officer on patrol or may be called upon to assist with translations
and investigations throughout the county. The program requires a
