VCOPS Secretary/Treasurer Charles
"Chip" Condon appointed to the
This past
week, Virginia Governor Mark Warner appointed Chip Condon to the seat on the
Criminal Justice Services Board for a term of 4 years. Here is a link
to information on the activities and membership of the Board:
http://www.search.org/integration/Virginia/legislation.asp?KeyID=33. Chip
will be the first working police officer in the long history of the
Board to be appointed to the Board. This is a tremendous victory for The
Virginia Coalition of Police and Deputy Sheriffs and police unions in
Virginia. Governor Warner realized that VCOPS was instrumental in
supporting his election and his policies as the Governor. This is the
reward for our efforts.
This was a
group effort. When you went to the general assembly or spoke to your
delegates and senators or let people know that organized police unions in
Virginia care about what happens in Virginia you effect decisions like this.
Bobby Mathieson's appointment as Deputy Director of DCJS and Chip's
appointment to the Criminal Justice Services Board are living proof that
united we can do just about anything.
