VCOPS at the Virginia Legislature - 2007
As of February 26, 2007 It appears that only two of the 11 bills that we
followed/supported or introduced were passed by the Legislature this session.
2007 was a short session so many bills that required more time were left (died)
in committee. You can click on the Bill number in
Red and see how the bill progressed.
HB 3117 Criminal Justice Services
Board; Committee on Training. Check the entire list below. The 2007 Virginia General Assembly session has concluded. Legislators looked at legislation that would have changed your Retirement Benefits, Formed a Drop Plan that really works, Improved the Procedural Guarantees Act (Grievance System), Given Deputy Sheriffs Grievance Rights, Revised Overtime Rules, Instituted and Funded a Line of Duty Act (Death Benefits), Provided a Tax Credit for LEO's, among many other things. In actuality they did very
little. We should be thankful that the VRS retirement system was finally
improved, but much of the vital legislation that was introduced was tabled or
left in committee to die. _____________________________________________________
